 The Process

 About
Phase I

Certification

  • Submit the TAA program petition and supporting documents to the U.S. Department of Commerce requesting certification.
  • GLTAAC's Outreach Team prepares and submits the petition on behalf of the firm.
  • There is no cost to the firm for this service. The U.S. Department of Commerce underwrites 100% of the cost.

 

The GLTAAC staff will work wtih your firm to help you through the applicaiton process. A detailed petition is sent to the U.S. Commerce Deparment on the firm's behalf, to qualify it for the program.

Phase II

Analysis and Adjustment Plan

  • Identify the firm's strengths and weaknesses and develop a customized plan to help improve competitive position. The projects that the firm and GLTAAC agree should be implemented will be identified in the Adjustment Plan.
  • GLTAAC's Project Managers work with the firm to develop a strategy and plan. The firm plays an active role in developing this plan.
  • The Diagnostic Analysis/Adjustment Plan is provided on a cost-shared basis. The U.S. Department of Commerce pays 75% of the cost. Cash cost to the firm is usually $1,000 - $3,000.

 

Upon certification, a Project Manager will work with your management to identify competitive strengths and weaknesses and develop a customized plan designed to stimulate recovery and growth. The cost of developing the recovery strategy is shared between the firm and the program. The program pays 75% of the cost.

Phase III

Technical Assistance

  • Obtain outside technical assistance to implement the projects identified in Phase II.
  • GLTAAC's Project Managers assist firms in the selection of an outside professional.
  • The U.S. Department of Commerce pays up to 50% of the fee per project.
  • Complete implementation of the plan typically takes 2 - 4 years.



The U.S. Department of Commerce pays up to 50% of the fee per project. The amount of total technical assistance is based on the number of employees or sales revenue, with the maximum provided by the program capped at $75,00

A professional outside consultant will assist in the implementation of projects identified in the Adjustment Plan. Throughout the process, your company determines the extent and pace of implementation. The program will pay up to 50% of the cost of these projects.
